Write for us
We welcome pitches that bring a fresh, well-grounded perspective to countryside customs, household traditions, seasonal life, gatherings or rural crafts. Send proposals through the Contact page; unsolicited finished articles are not required.
What we are looking for
A strong pitch has a clear subject, a specific angle and a reason it matters to curious general readers. It might examine the history of a custom, explain how a shared occasion takes shape or consider how an everyday object fits into rural life. Avoid treating one place or family tradition as representative of all country life.
Make the proposal clear
Tell us the central question, the likely shape of the piece and what material would support it. Flag uncertainties, differing accounts and any access or permissions the subject may require. Keep the writing plain and show what makes the subject distinct from familiar generalities.
Sending a pitch
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include your proposed title, a short summary and any relevant links or background you can share. A proposal is not a promise of publication; please wait for a response before preparing a full draft.
Country life is made in the particulars
We look at the customs, objects and shared places that give rural life its texture, without pretending every village follows the same pattern.
